Face-to-face Wilton

The amount of dead yarn produced by two carpets is the same as that of a steel wire loom carpet, so the yarn cost is low. The two fabrics are woven at the same time, one layer on top of the other, and the velvet warp is interwoven between the two to form a "sandwich". The pile warp is cut by a knife to separate the fabric to form two carpets that mirror each other.

Figure 13.16 shows the face-to-face weaving structure before the carpet is separated. Many other structures are also possible.

Well designed design is usually done through a face-to-face process. Different colored pile yarns controlled by jacquard mechanism create the design of carpet. Up to 14 colors can be used, and only one color can form fluff at any time - the rest are incorporated into the back of the carpet as "dead fluff".

This is the most effective way to make woven carpet. It is especially suitable for producing carpets from fine wool to traditional manual or modern design.
