What Kind Of Carpet Is Antistatic
Apr-06-2021

The antistatic property of the carpet is the performance of static electricity accumulation and static discharge generated by the carpet surface of the carpet due to friction during the use of the carpet. The strength of antistatic performance is one of the basic indicators of whether the carpet production is qualified. Ordinary chemical fibers are prone to static electricity when they have not undergone antistatic treatment, and they may begin to discharge when static electricity accumulates to a certain extent. The accumulation of static electricity is not only easy to cause dust absorption, but also may affect the performance of some electrical appliances. This is why antistatic carpets must be used in the computer room. According to different carpet materials, antistatic carpets are divided into:

Nylon carpet: In the production process, antistatic carbon filament is added. Nylon carpets use this method to obtain permanent antistatic properties.

Polypropylene carpet: The material polypropylene itself has antistatic properties, so most office carpets are made of polypropylene. Polypropylene carpet has low price, good antistatic performance and high production efficiency.

Wool carpets: Under normal circumstances, wool carpets will not cause static electricity problems. This is when the relative humidity (RH) is above 40%, but below this relative humidity value, carpets that have not been electrostatically treated will generate static electricity. This means that the wool carpet itself has temporary antistatic properties. To obtain a permanent antistatic effect, the carpet manufacturer sprays antistatic agents on the raw materials during the production of wool carpets to initially prevent the generation of static electricity. In addition, mixing a small amount of conductive fiber into the wool carpet yarn can also play a good antistatic effect.

The antistatic performance of the carpet can be judged by the experiment of measuring the static electricity generated when people are walking, or by the antistatic performance during the static decay period. The main anti-static indicators: walking voltage: A grade product ≤ 500V; B grade product ≤ 2000V. Antistatic treated carpets fully meet the needs of some customers who have special requirements for antistatic properties.
